Courtney Lewis Appointed as Economic Development Director

Courtney Lewis swears in to her new position as the Economic Development Director for the City of Mountain Home Dec. 26, 2017.

Lewis first came to the City of Mountain Home as an Air Traffic Controller for the United States Air Force in 2000.  After serving nearly nine years in a successful active-duty career, she relocated with her husband to Salt Lake City.  After only 18 months in Salt Lake City, they realized that Mountain Home really was the place they called home and headed back to the Gem State.  Courtney has been an ardent volunteer throughout the community. She has served on local school Parent Teacher Together Committees; on the Mountain Home School District’s Facility Advisory Committee; with Mountain Home Air Force Base as a Key Spouse; and on the Board of Directors of the Mountain Home Arts Council.  In 2015, she was hired as the Economic Development Specialist for the City of Mountain Home. Her passion for service, building cooperative partnerships and thinking outside of the box was a natural fit for the position. Since that time she has helped to revamp the city’s brand identity with a new logo and website (to debut spring of 2018), earned grants for beautification projects and education workforce development, recruited new businesses to Mountain Home, helped current businesses thrive and expand, and spearheaded our revitalization project targeting Downtown Mountain Home.  She will assume the responsibilities of Economic Development Director from her mentor, Paula Riggs, beginning in January 2018. Lewis says she will continue to work to bring business and opportunity to the community she loves.

“Mountain Home is where my friends and family live and where I’ve chosen to raise my children,” said Lewis. “I’m excited to continue working on this team to make Mountain Home the best place possible to live, work and operate a business. We’ve got so many great projects in the works that I’m looking forward to bringing to fruition.”

Courtney Lewis was officially confirmed as Mountain Home’s next Economic Development Director during a regular City Council meeting Dec. 26, 2017. Lewis has served as the city’s Economic Development Specialist for nearly three years and says she’s up for the challenge of leading the department when her mentor, Paula Riggs, retires.
“I’m excited,” said Lewis. “I’ve got my running shoes on, as Mayor Sykes likes to say, and I’m honored to be given this opportunity to continue serving Mountain Home and its citizens.”
