Visitors Center
The Desert Mountain Visitors Center is the ideal spot to begin a tour of the Mountain Home area, located just off the interstate next to McDonalds and Wendys on American Legion Blvd (State Hwy 20).
Operated by the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce and staffed by volunteers, the center is open year round. Staff members have an extensive knowledge of the area and numerous sources of information are available to them to help inform travlers about the many recreational opportunities in the area.
During the winter, October through May, the center is open for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. At all other times it is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Focusing on the natural beauty of the area, the staff can direct visitors to locations where they may camp, hike, boat, swim, fish or take advantage of numerous other outdoor activities. A calendar of area events helps the staff guide visitors to special activities throughout the year.
The facility also carries a selection of souvenirs along with Idaho collector items including designs and paintings by local artists.
Staff at the Desert Mountain Visitors Center will have the right information to allow visitors to make the most of the time they have in the Elmore County area. For additional information phone the Desert Mountain Visitors Center at (208) 587-4464.
