
Living - Emergency - Fire Department
The Mountain Home Volunteer Fire Department operates from its main station located at 220 South 2nd East Street. The Department consists of two fulltime employees, one Chief and one Firefighter; and 33 paid on-call volunteers, one Assistant Chief, two Captains, two Lieutenants and 28 Firefighters. It has three stations with six pieces of apparatus, four Engines, one Ladder Truck and one Command Vehicle. The City also contracts to provide services for the Mountain Home Rural Fire Protection District which has one station with two Engines, one Tender and four Brush Trucks. Combined, the Department covers about 250 square miles of residential, commercial and wildland property. The Department is responsible for fire suppression, extrication assistance upon request, hazmat and rescue as needed. The City Department is proud to have received a 3 rating from the Idaho Surveyand Rating Bureau.
Burn Ban In Effect
The department has issued an open burn ban. It is prohibited to perform any open burning within the city and rural department boundries. This ban will be in effect until conditions improve. The ban could be lifted sometime in September. Please check back or contact station #1 at 587.2117.
The Department members added a custom designed brick to the "IDAHO FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL" located on Shoreline Dr. in Boise. This memorial is a tribute to all those men that paid the ultimate sacrifice. The memorial is located on the Boise River Greenbelt, the memorial has the names of the 14 Idaho Firefighters that have lost their lives in the line of duty.
