Encounter one of the most famous river crossings on the historic Oregon Trail. Positioned twenty-nine miles outside of Mountain Home, Idaho on the Snake River sits the Three Island Crossing State Park. Pioneer travelers used the three-island crossing until 1869 until a ferry was constructed nearly two miles upstream by Gus Glenn. At the Three Island Crossing there is no shortage of scenic views or adventures. Take a hike or mountain bike through the trails, relax under a tree and treat yourself to a picnic, or do some fishing in the Snake River. The State Park is also home to The Oregon Trail History & Education Center where you can learn about pioneer emigrants and Native American history. You can take a self-guided tour of the park to explore some of the original wagon ruts and Conestoga wagon replicas.
